Film and Video Work
[Place Holder]
The film titled “[Place Holder]” follows an insecure serial killer struggling with imposter syndrome as he clumsily attempts to make a name for himself. Presented entirely in a “found footage” style, the film unfolds as a compilation of seemingly unrelated clips that gradually form a cohesive narrative by the end. I created this project as both a reflection of my own insecurities as an artist and a satirical critique of the increasing desensitization to violence and glorification of serial killers in modern media.
[Place Holder] - The First Draft
The concept for [Place Holder] originated as a project for a directing class I attended at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). This version represents the film in its early stages of story development
红烧肉 (Braised Pork Belly)
I directed, filmed, and edited “红烧肉” (Braised Pork Belly), a short film created for the New Cultural Legacy Center in Lexington, Massachusetts. I collaborated with local high school and elementary students who volunteered as actors and crew. The film follows two young siblings on a treasure hunt in their backyard, told from the perspective of a child’s imagination.
The second film I collaborated on for the New Legacy Cultural Center was “The Brave Rabbit”, written by Cathy Huang, a middle school volunteer. This film also among the winners of the Best Sshort Film Award for the International Chinese Original IP Film Festival.
